Happy Thanksgiving to the Friends of Sové Lavi!

Happy Thanksgiving to the Friends of Sové Lavi!

“It is not what we say about our blessings, but how we use them –
that is the true measure of our thanksgiving.”
W.T. Parkinson

On behalf of the beneficiaries, staff, and Board of Directors of Sové Lavi, we extend our heartfelt wishes to you and your families for a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving,

We are extremely thankful for your trust in us and support of our work in Haiti in healthcare, clean water, and education. We are also grateful for the blessings the U.S. Provides to all of us and the opportunities it gives us to share with others, especially the kind and welcoming community of Pont Sondé.

Because of your generosity, we were able to expand our impact in Haiti this past year:

  • Thirty educational scholarships were given to elementary students at Ecole Sacré Coeur in Pont Sondé, Haiti, because of the help of many, in particular, Claude Nahum and the Sunnyvale Rotary who funded the majority of the scholarships. Education opens doors and gives the children hope for a brighter future.
  • Solar lights were purchased for all the students at the school so children can now study at night; a project which was also initiated by the Sunnyvale Rotary. We predict grades will go up!
  • A stove and water pump were purchased for the school. The children now have a hot lunch and can better focus on their studies because they are nourished and hydrated.
  • An eye mission was conducted for the children and members of the community by Paul Halpern and Dave McPhillips of VOSH. This is their second trip to Pont Sondé, and they plan to return again next year.
  • Members of our Board, under the leadership of Dr. Emmanuel Francois, have researched and have now begun the implementation of establishing the medical clinic as an HMO. The community is engaged and excited about the prospect.
  • We continue to support clean water and sanitation in the community. Thirty water wells have been drilled over the past 3 years. Clean water saves lives and frees up children to go to school. Many say it is the first step in lifting families out of poverty.

These projects were only possible because of your prayers, support, and generosity.

May you and your families be blessed in abundance as you are blessing the poor of Haiti.
